Kang Gary "Mr. Gae" Abum Review

Kang Gary's first solo mini album, Mr. Gae (gae is dog in Korean), is banned in all major Korean TV and radio stations. His promotions were limited to YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Gary had to rely on nothing but word or mouth to get the news of his album going out. Not that it is something new to him. Except for Hexagonal and Unplugged, LeeSsang promoted their albums almost as unceremoniously as Mr. Gae.

The lack of promo opportunity affected the sales. The album has 6 tracks, two of which are instrumental versions of the two of the 4 songs. The instrumentals were sold in iTunes and other music stores which effectively make it singles, at least in album sales. Those two instrumental songs failed to make it to some of the charts. The four other songs did. However, if you want to be strict about it, he didn't achieve an all-kill. He doesn't seem to mind.

Simon D Leaves Amoeba

Simon D announced that he will not be renewing his contract with Amoeba Culture via Twitter. Amoeba Culture later confirmed that they are parting ways amicably with Simon D. They also expressed that their commitment to continue supporting Simon D in the next phase of his career.

Simon D explained that his decision to part ways with Amoeba is motivated by his desire to start things on his own. He is hitting his 30s and staying with Amoeba is the "safe" things to do. However, he wants to venture on a solo career.

It is unclear whether or not Simon D will be joining another label or if he is putting up his own. He also didn't address any possibility of a reunion with his former Supreme Team half, E-Sens.

Both have remained close friends, often posting photos and videos of spending time together after the infamous battle of E-Sens with Amoeba Culture and Gaeko.

Many attributed Simon D's decision to stay with Amoeba instead of going with his partner, E-Sens as a safe move. Amoeba Culture has a network of connections within and outside the hiphop industry that could limit his options should he leave Amoeba. Having been known as the more "commercial" member of Supreme Team, many were also not surprised. They figured that career security was far more important to Simon D than musical and personal integrity.

Mr. Gae Music Videos and English Lyrics

Zotto Mola Music Videos and English Lyrics

Zotto Mola / XX不知道
Lyricist: Gary
Composer: Gary, SIMO, Joo Young Eun(GIZMO)

I don’t need one hundred other girls
I just need you, I just need you
Besides you, I don’t need anything else
I just need you, I just need you
No matter how much I tell you, you really don’t know my heart
Sometimes, if the way I express myself gets too rough, you get surprised
Love cannot be expressed with words
A girl like you does not make sense, does not make sense
No matter how much I tell you, you really don’t know my heart
Sometimes, if the way I express myself gets too rough, you get surprised
No other girl can compete with you
A girl like you does not make sense, does not make sense

3rd and 4th Teaser to Kang Gary's First Solo Mini Album

I have to say... I never thought Kang Gary has this side in him.

I have always thought he is the unorthodox rapper who are perpetually subdued. It seems though, he really has that elegant sense of abandon in him that is often misconstrued as arrogance or, god forbid, swag. This teaser of Zotto Mola  shows a completely distant but buried deep in his self assured truth Kang Gary.

The fourth teaser is even more a surprise (in a different way). LeeSsang has always been very symbolic in their approach to their videos. Even with their most explicit lyrics, their videos took the cerebral route. This is the first time I am seeing Kang Gary utilize breasts and butts BUT, I have to say, I am expecting some sort of a twist at the end of the video.

Kang Gary's 2nd Teaser for His First Solo Mini Album

This teaser clears up a ridiculous claim by some Running Man fans that Kang Gary's album mini cover shows him eating a cotton candy and not smoking.

That was funny.

More importantly, the intro music is a deviation from hiphop. It started out with a very 40s sound and hastily but perfectly meld into a contemporary eclectic industrial tone.

The teaser is a snippet of the song Drunken Night Feat. Jung In.

Gary also tweeted:

It is hard work to write and produce 3-4 songs all by myself. I have to deal with all these emotions alone. The agony of writing with sincerity and still produce something that will pass the standards of major labels.

Teaser for Kang Gary's First Solo Mini Album

Kang Gary is going to freakin' kill it with this one.

I like what I hear so far.

Twitter has been exploding with comments from both fans and colleagues. Haha commented "Hehehe, sexy" referring to Gary on the teaser.

What is more worth noticing is the different kind of sound used on the teaser. While Unplugged has been characterized with slow and chill out beats and Hexagonal, a more commercial feel, the short clip seems to be more faithful to the tone of hiphop from the Bronx.

Looking forward to the album.

Kang Gary Reveals Album Cover of His First Mini Album

Kang Gary just released the cover of his first solo mini album in 16 years.

Unlike past LeeSsang albums that are highly graphic or highly manipulated imaged, Gary's first mini album show himself looking straight in the camera and smoking.

Many take this as a sign that Gary intends to really deviate and differentiate his own music and image from that of LeeSsang.

E-Sens Denies Putting Up His Own Label & Release of Album in February

E-Sens clarified on Twitter that he is neither putting up or launching his own label nor launching an album this February.

He also explained that the group he put up with JTong is not a label. It is also not a crew. They just want to perform together. He specifically mentioned that he "doesn't know what it is".
